During your initial consultation, Dr. Hendricks will review your medical history and discuss your expectations for the breast reduction. How is Breast Reduction Surgery Performed?
Dr. Hendricks will administer a general/light anesthetic and make an incision around the areola (pigmented area around the nipple). Another incision will be made following the downward curve of the breast. Dr. Hendricks will remove tissue, fat and skin, and then reposition the areola. Depending on the amount of tissue removed, Dr. Hendricks may need to regraft the areola to its new position. The breast skin will then be pulled down to lift the breast and the incisions will be sutured. You will be given a surgical bra to wear until the swelling and bruising have gone down. Discomfort should be minimal and Dr. Hendricks can prescribe medication to control it.
