• a fee for the anesthesiologist
• a fee for the operating room
• the cost of breast implants

Some cosmetic surgery fee quotes, especially those requested over the phone, may not include one or more of these components so they appear much lower than their competition. Some plastic surgeons also lower the price charged to the patient by substituting a nurse anesthetist for an MD anesthesiologist, or avoiding use of an anesthesiologist altogether.

In addition to the three basic fees involved with cosmetic surgery, there may be additional charges as well, such as for: overnight stays, prescription medications,lab tests, blood work, extra supplies like compression garments after body contouring, surgical bras, etc. These items are usually extra.
